Pre AVG: U.S. Navy – naval aviator
AVG Service: Recruited into the AVG as contract employee of CAMCO under secret presidential authority.  Sailed with 122 AVG from the Port of San Francisco aboard the Dutch M/V JAGERSFONTEIN on July 10, 1941.  Killed as a result of an aerial collision while engaged in a dogfight training exercise on Sept. 8th. Pallbearers were fellow members of the 2nd Pursuit Squadron who bore Armie’s flag-draped casket to grave #1 at the Airmen’s Cemetery in St. Luke’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Toungoo, Burma.  Service conducted by AVG Chaplain Paul W. Frillmann.
