36th Pursuit Squadron - Staff Sgt.

AVG Service: In the group of the first 27 men to arrive in Toungoo, Burma - June 27, 1941.  Drove up the Burma Road with a load of ammunition.  Experienced Magwe bombings, Paoshan, Loiwing, Kunming.
Post AVG, WWII:
Left Kunming on June 27, 1942 - Slow Boat from Bombay, Good Hope, Trinidad, New York and then Home.

Re-entered Army Air Corps as a M/Sgt - Assigned to Richmond Air Base, 327th Fighter Group as line chief 323rd Squadron - Entered flight training in Eastern Flying Training Command - Graduated as B-25 Bomber Pilot, Albany, GA, Class 44J.  Stayed over as Instructor Pilot, sent to Distribution Center, Lincoln, NB. 
Post War Career:
Discharged September 15, 1945 - Joined Reserves -Obtained indefinite commission -  Did Not Get Called for Korean War. 

Went to work at Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co., then Weirton Steel as Maintenance Turn Foreman and General Foreman. - Maintained service in Reserves with 910 Troop Carrier Group - 757th Squadron.  Retired with the rank of Major in 1971, flying C-119 "Flying Boxcar" aircraft.  Served for many years as an officer of the AVG Flying Tigers Assn.
